Typical installation of borate powder, Impel Rods and Epoxy systems in rotted log corners

.

The borate powder and Impel rods will kill the dry rot (a fungus that is know as rot) and an epoxy system will add strength back to the wood and fill in missing areas. This has been done many times and works very well. You want to remove all of the soft punky wood that can be easily scooped out. Then, you want to drill several holes (3/4" x 3"). After you drill the holes, spray the entire surface and the holes with Borate mixture. Then insert the Impel rods. Wait about 48 hours or until the surface is dry, then mix up and apply the M-Balm epoxy. Once that becomes cured (a couple of hours) mix up and apply the E-Wood. Let that cure for a day, then sand to match the original contour of the logs. The epoxy repair can be painted or stained, so try to match up the color as best you can to make the repair less noticeable.

The powdered borates we recommend use of Penetreat, Timber Saver or Armor-Guard. Remember ALWAYS follow the manufacturers instruction.
